MISSION  STATEMENT

Hood Canal Business Association (HCBA) will be working in a cohesive effort to build a co-operative that will enhance and develop a strong business community by being a constant advocate of its members and the community.

 

GOALS

Market and sell the lower Hood Canal area as a “destination for recreation,” build our area in to a “drive to” area rather than a “drive through.”  Target the residents of urban areas that are 2 hours and less driving time away.  Create and maintain an atmosphere where not only is the visitor impressed, but they are treated with a degree of welcome that will invite them to make a return trip.

 

STRATEGIES

Further develop and maintain a web site.  Create a PR campaign, which publicizes specific seasonal events and activities that are unique to our area.  Participate in Trade Shows that promote outdoor recreation.  Cooperative advertising that targets our market, starting with the Olympia-Tacoma-Seattle corridor, thereby taking in the Fort Lewis and McChord markets.

 

TACTICS

Keep the web site updated and appropriately linked to other web sites.  Develop activities and events that are unique to our area.  Write press releases regarding the events, then funnel the story to travel related editors.  Utilize the State PR office for distribution and contacts.  Continue to build and association with the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce, the Mason County Tourism Task Force, and the Washington State Tourism Office.  Utilize the experience of these organizations for direction and exposure.  Produce flyers for distribution by businesses and during a trade show that provide information on upcoming events, as well as a list of things to do here in the area.  Do mailings that invite customers to specific events, and/or offer special packages, which allow businesses to cross sell.  Beautify and decorate store fronts, parking lots, and roadsides.  Create and run cooperative advertising in seasonal publications that circulate in our target areas.

HCBA meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 PM in the Hoodsport Timberland Regional Library.  Welcome one and all to discuss what is happening in our area and to meet local business people interested in promoting tourism.
